The Hick Hargreaves 4000 and 4200 range of blowers are interchangeable although they have different internal components and lubrication methods.
The range was sold to other manufacturers who eventually dropped support for the machines. Despite this, the original Hick Hargreaves machines are still around; robust and efficient machines that they are.
High mechanical and volumetric efficiency for their size meaning that slower running speeds and quieter operation is possible.
Lubrication varies from oil lubrication at both the drive and non-drive (gear) end of the blower; with some models having grease at the drive end.

Various developments of this machine has resulted in a variety of sealing mechanisms.
